Primitiva is an environmentally-conscious clothing brand from Medellin, Colombia.
We believe every closet should have high-quality, basic pieces made with natural fibers and neutral colors, designed for longevity.
Primitiva was created back in 2018 when sustainable fashion wasn't a thing yet, specially in Colombia. We started creating basics in natural fibers (using linen blend), produced in very small batches (we still do) by local women and mostly educating about the impact of fast fashion.
We use natural fibers because they are biodegradable and more environmentally friendly than synthetics. While linen biodegrades in about six months, polyester can take anywhere from 20 to 200 years to decompose. Additionally, polyester contributes to microplastic pollution in our water systems, providing another significant reason to choose natural fibers.
Beyond the environmental benefits, natural fibers like linen are much more breathable. This makes them significantly more comfortable to wear than polyester, especially during warmer seasons.
